Assessment/Curriculum Mapping
Lake Land College is committed to ensuring that each academic program clearly aligns with its learning outcomes, course outcomes, and the college’s institutional learning outcomes.
To support this alignment, lead instructors and program coordinators identify how each course contributes to student learning by marking the level of engagement with course outcomes (found in course information forms), program outcomes, and Laker Learning Competencies, using the following abbreviations:
I – Introducing
P – Practicing
R – Reinforcing
M – Mastering
These designations appear beneath each program and institutional outcome for core, general education, and elective courses, illustrating how learning progresses throughout the curriculum.
At Lake Land College, we utilize HelioCampus, our assessment platform, to input curriculum mapping data, evaluate student performance, and generate meaningful insights. Through HelioCampus, faculty and administrators can access a variety of reports that provide a detailed view of how course outcomes, program outcomes, and Laker Learning Competencies align within a specific program. The reports not only display the connections between outcomes and courses but also highlight the developmental level at which each outcome is addressed, offering a comprehensive picture of student learning progression throughout the program.
