Joining us this fall but not quite sure what to expect? Welcome Week gives you a chance to settle into the school year with a full week of fun before classes begin! As you come to campus to pick up your textbooks, be sure to stick around to meet with staff, discover helpful resources, enjoy games and activities, win prizes, make new friends, find your classroom and much more!
Here are just a few of the things you can look forward to at Welcome Week:
Campus Resources
At Welcome Week, you’ll have a chance to learn about all the different resources that will help you succeed! Be sure to check out the tables in the Luther Student Center to meet with staff and faculty and learn about all our free campus resources and other opportunities at Lake Land, including mental health services, the Laker Food Pantry, in-person and online tutoring, financial aid, the Career Readiness Center, student employment, the Fitness Center, TRIO, Perkins, and much more!
Games and Giveaways
Welcome Week offers a look into the fun side of campus life! In addition to info on campus resources, many tables in the Luther Student Center will have games, activities, giveaways, snacks – or all the above! We’ll also have food trucks on campus every day. Be sure to stick around to make some early college memories and meet new friends as you kick off the school year.
Students can also pick up free student planners and fun Lake Land-themed giveaways, including sunglasses and pencil pouches!
Classroom Tours
Welcome Week is the perfect time to learn your way around campus! Tour guides will be available throughout the week to walk you through your schedule and show you where each of your classes is located. You’ll also be able to scope out good study spots and find the best places on campus to hang out with friends.
Technology Workshops
During Welcome Week, you’ll have the chance to upgrade your technology skills just in time for the school year! Check out our “How to College” technology workshops to learn about all the platforms you’ll use at Lake Land, like email, Microsoft Office, Canvas and the Laker Hub. Attend a structured workshop or just come by as needed during a drop-in session.

Welcome Days
Round off Welcome Week with a fabulous event of fun and freebies at the Student Life Welcome Days. Here, you’ll enjoy a free lunch and fun activities as you learn about campus clubs and other opportunities to get involved. Welcome Day will be held on campus on Wednesday, August 26 and at the Effingham Technology Center on Thursday, August 27.
