NREMT Testing Now Available in Student Success Center

Published on July 2, 2026

Lake Land College recently received approval to offer National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) licensing examinations on campus, reducing the burden of long-distance travel for graduates of the College’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Paramedic programs to earn their national licenses.

The NREMT exams are designed to evaluate the competence of EMS practitioners at a variety of levels, with content areas defined and validated by subject experts and educators working in EMS fields. The exams are recognized across all 50 states, with successful completion allowing EMTs to transfer their licenses seamlessly across state lines and access career opportunities nationwide.

The NREMT exams are administered exclusively at official testing centers authorized by Pearson VUE, a global leader in licensure and certification testing. Identifying a need for local testing sites, Lake Land College Emergency Services Program Director & Clinical Coordinator Jasmine Ballard and Director of Student Success Services Kim Hunter worked closely with Pearson VUE to qualify the College’s campus in Mattoon as an authorized NREMT testing site. The College officially received approval from Pearson on June 2, 2026, and now serves as a convenient regional testing site for Lake Land students and other local EMTs.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer the exams on campus to alleviate stress for our students and reduce travel barriers to those interested in earning this crucial national credential,” Ballard said. “We’re proud of the collaboration between our faculty and staff to identify this need among our students and advocate for their support.”

The NREMT exams are now available to take on Lake Land College’s campus, located at 5001 Lake Land Blvd. in Mattoon, Illinois. To locate additional NREMT testing sites, visit the Pearson VUE test center locater at PearsonVUE.com/us/en/test-takers/test-centers.html#EN_N/.
