Curriculum
The Curriculum Office is housed in the Instructional Services Department at Lake Land College. The mission of Academic Operations is to support Lake Land College faculty, students, and staff by facilitating low-cost, challenging, and flexible academic opportunities and community partnerships to inspire departmental and community growth.
The Curriculum Office strives to
- meet the learning needs of our students, faculty, staff and community
- foster continuous improvement in curriculum through best practices, assessment, research, innovative thinking, professional development and connections to the workforce and alumni
We support faculty by ensuring hands-on support in developing courses and programs.
Shannon McGregor, Associate Dean of Curriculum & Assessment (smcgregor2@lakelandcollege.edu, ext. 5334, Webb Hall 027), is also available to discuss and build courses and programs. Faculty can create a course or program using the resources below.
All curriculum proposal materials are saved on the college’s shared drive, which is accessible through the virtual machine. Lightcast is available to aid in collecting labor market data, and our recent acquisition of HelioCampus and EAB Navigate allows us to build and distribute student and employer surveys to gain stakeholder buy-in. Additionally, a Canvas course is being developed to provide additional resources and support from conception through research.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
The Curriculum and Assessment offices have been collaborating considerably to offer Bloom’s Taxonomy training, integration of Laker Learning Competencies, and revisions to course and program outcomes. These collaborations will assist in creating and measuring course and program outcomes more intentionally.
Additional collaborations exist with the Institutional Research Office in using the Program Improvement and Enhancement (PIE) process. As faculty and division chairs participate with these groups and processes, we encourage use of the results in assessments and continuous improvement cycles.
